Hey! I had so many great memorys at this school! Had so many good teachers enjoyed my 3 years wish i was back there!! Im now in year 10 and doing very well and that was all because of my lovely start at downs infants!

I was at The Downs from around 1954 through to 1961 going through Infants to Junior level and, my father was there before me. The memories of The Downs are the fondest of my school life. Distinct memories of the Air-raid shelters, toilets across the playground, my Mother as Lollipop lady and of sitting in the class room wondering what the loud bangs were outside; it was only a few years ago I found out they where Peter Twiss, flying a Fairey Delta and he was making the (successful) attempt to break the sound barrier. When I met him I blamed him for my failure to pass my 11+ but, unfortunately, the dates aren't the same but, it was a good excuse!

It would be great to see some photos of the school.

I was a student from 1976. I have many happy memories of playing in the playground, using paint for the first time, that unique school food smell, and the great teaching staff.

Friends included Darren Wise, Richard Allamby, Mark Gully, Nicholas Reed, Colin Dench - where are you now? Great website. Regards from Australia.
